Strata Cut Animation with Character

Join us for an introduction to Strata Cut Animation with Character! This hands on workshop explores the fascinating 40 year old stop-motion technique of building images inside a "loaf" of colorful clay that are revealed one slice at a time.
Together, we'll learn the basics of the strata cut process, explore a bit of its history, and create our own clay design. In this class, participants will build a layered blinking eye while learning the careful planning and sculpting techniques that make this unique animation method possible.
This workshop focuses on creating the clay form itself, the first step in the strata cut animation process. This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in animation, sculpture, or experimental art.
