Join us under the October Full Moon for Observational Mushroom Drawing: Toxic Edition, featuring local artists Lindsay from the Woodbine Mycology Collective and Vanessa from Tiny Arts Supply. We’ll provide an assortment of fungi specimens foraged around NYC, with a focus on the Jack-o’-Lantern mushroom (Omphalotus olearius), a toxic, inedible species.
☠️ The American Eastern Jack-o’-Lantern mushroom is a bright orange, poisonous species that closely resembles the edible chanterelle, which smells like apricots. In this workshop, you'll learn how to distinguish the two, create art from direct observation, and walk away with new knowledge, artwork, and connections. Bonus: this mushroom is bioluminescent, meaning it glows in the dark!
And did we mention? It’s a full moon! 🌕
