Janyak : Armenian Needlelace with Olivia Henry
📅 Sunday, October 25
⏰ 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
📍 Tiny Arts Supply, 612 Woodward Avenue
Join us for an opportunity to learn the ancestral craft of Armenian Needlelace from Olivia Henry! Although this is an ancestral class, anyone interested in learning is very welcome to attend :)
We'll make simple decorative trim on tea towels using the practice of Armenian needlelace (Janyak), which traditionally uses only a needle and thread to create embellishments for clothing and traditional garments.
Janyak has been taught from generation to generation, even during times of separation and exile. Students can expect to learn the basic stitches and principles of this practice with a hands-on demonstration, followed by one on one help as Olivia goes table to table.
Students will receive plenty of material to take home to continue their practice with.
