Get Creative with Clay – A Handbuilding Skillshare Workshop

Curious about ceramics?
Join us for a hands-on workshop focused on clay handbuilding—a traditional, wheel-free pottery technique where you’ll shape and mold clay using just your hands, bodies, and simple tools.

🛠️ Workshop Details

What is Handbuilding?
Handbuilding is a pottery method that doesn’t require a wheel. With simple tools and lots of creativity, you’ll learn to craft functional and unique pieces like cups, bowls, and more. No experience needed! If you have experience, we encourage you to share your skills—this is a collaborative, skill-sharing environment.

What’s Included:

  • Enough clay for one or two small pieces (e.g. cup, bowl)

  • Access to a variety of ceramic tools

  • Support from experienced facilitators

  • A creative, community-based learning environment

Firing Your Work:
All pieces will be kiln-fired. Finished work will be ready for pickup 2–4 weeks after the workshop. We’ll notify you by email when your piece is ready. Want to glaze (paint) your work? See the “Optional Glazing Session” below.

🗓️ Event Time & Location

📅 Dates: Multiple sessions available throughout 2025
Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Check-in starts at 6:45 PM)
📍 Location: Community Space, 585 Woodward Avenue, Ridgewood, Queens

Facilitated by Tiny Arts Supply as part of the Community Ceramics Program

🎨 Optional Glazing Session

Want to add color and shine? Join a separate Glazing Session 2–4 weeks after your handbuilding class. We’ll email you when your piece is ready.

  • Purchase a separate ticket for the glazing session

  • Glazes are food-safe and enhance the durability of your work

🎟️ Sliding Scale Tickets & Refund Policy

Ticket Pricing:
We offer sliding scale pricing to keep the event accessible. If you're financially able, please consider supporting others by purchasing a higher-tier ticket. A “materials-only” ticket is available by request.

Refund Policy:

  • Full refunds available up to 3 days before your session (email: TinyArtsSupply@gmail.com)

  • No refunds within 72 hours of the session, due to limited seating, however you can email before the session to reschedule to another date (see dates below)

👶 Ages 8+ welcome!
