šŸ“… Sunday, June 21
ā° 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM (with a 30 min break)
šŸ“ Tiny Arts Supply, 612 Woodward Avenue

Join us for a special afternoon celebrating vegetables, creativity, and fermentation with Ridgewood artists Owen Geary and Lynn Hunter!

We'll begin with a hands-on Dry Pastel Vegetable Still Life Drawing workshop from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, where Owen will guide participants through the fundamentals of pastel drawing while working from a beautiful still life of seasonal vegetables, herbs, and alliums. You'll learn techniques for sketching, color mixing, layering, and creating depth with soft pastels, leaving with a finished drawing of your own.

After a short break, we'll reconvene from 3:30 - 5:30 PM for Trust Your Gut!, a beginner-friendly lacto-fermentation workshop led by Lynn Hunter. Using many of the same vegetables featured in our still life, you'll learn the basics of fermentation, gut health, and safe home pickling techniques.

Participants will leave with:

  • A completed dry pastel vegetable drawing
  • Two jars of homemade ferments
  • Fermentation handouts and tools to continue your practice at home

This combined workshop is perfect for anyone who loves art, food, or just learning new hands-on skills. No experience is necessary for either class.

All materials provided. Please bring a reference photo if you'd like additional drawing inspiration.

If you'd prefer to attend only one portion of the day, individual tickets are available for Vegetable Still Life Pastel Drawing with Owen Geary
